CU on Main Street – FAQ - April 21, 2011

The following covers most of the questions Members may have regarding our move to Main Street.

Why move?

By moving to the new premises on Main Street, we will achieve a higher visibility, which in turn will enable us to improve our overall service in so many ways, meeting the challenges of the current climate.

What are the advantages?

We have specifically identified the following as key advantages:

  • Highly visible location
  • Stronger presence in the community
  • Potential for significant growth – “strength in numbers”
  • Enhanced range of services
  • Enhanced availability of services
  • Operational efficiencies
  • Better office access
  • Better value for members

Are there any disadvantages?

We don’t envisage that there will be any disadvantages for Members.

What about the parking situation?

There is on-street parking, similar to our current set up, but the new parking arrangements at Bridge Field  Malahide Castle (with one hour free parking) should really help to facilitate Members.

Will our Credit Union become big and impersonal like Banks?

No.  While we would like to be bigger so that we can do more for our Members, and respond to your needs faster, we would still very much plan to maintain a local, community-driven focus.

Will the move cost a lot of money?

This is a prudent investment for everyone.  We deliberated carefully over a considerable period of time and took the decision to move as we saw an opportunity to increase our profile within the common bond and as such, planned provision for the move accordingly.  Your Board has always fostered the idea of financial prudence among Members and we have practised these ourselves in the management of the financial affairs of the Credit Union. We have worked steadily to build up strong reserves of cash and retained surpluses to ensure the Safety and Soundness of the Credit Union.  Your savings are secure.

What happens next?

There will be some building modifications undertaken over the next few months.

We will be promoting the move over the coming weeks and months, culminating in an official launch later in the year.

If you have any other questions or require more information, please feel free to drop in to the office, phone or send an email.

We are looking forward to moving with you to our new home!

Malahide Credit Union Sponsors New Jerseys for St Sylvester’s U14 Boys Team

Malahide & District Credit Union has proudly sponsored the St. Sylvester’s Boys Under-14 football team since they were Under-11.

As any parent knows, boys quickly outgrow their sports gear so this year, Malahide Credit Union stepped in with a brand new set of jerseys.

Pictured with the team at the presentation are Bryan O’Flaherty (Chair, Malahide Credit Union), Vivienne Keavey (Credit Union Manager) and Stephen McNulty and Paul O’Toole, Managers of the team.

Commenting at the presentation, Malahide Credit Union Manager, Vivienne Keavey said: “Malahide Credit Union firmly believes in committing to and supporting other groups and organisations in the community and has been doing so for many years. Through various sponsorships, donations and initiatives, we are not just giving back to our community, but hopefully driving change to help make our community a better place.  We are so delighted to be sponsors of these boys since age 11 and we wish them every success in their new jerseys!”

Team Manager, Stephen McNulty said: “The generous donation by Malahide Credit Union has enabled us to provide our Boys U14 team with a brand new set of jerseys.  This sponsorship and continued support of the Credit Union is much appreciated by everyone connected with the Club.”
